Paradigm Foundation supports the Wooburn Festival

Posted on the 21st February 2018

Last year the Paradigm Foundation was delighted to award a £3,000 grant to help with the running costs of the annual Wooburn Festival events.

Originally conceived by one of Britain’s leading orchestral conductors, the late Richard Hickox CBE, the Wooburn Festival has been running for 53 years and is going from strength to strength. Richard’s vision was to bring internationally acclaimed orchestras and musicians to the Chilterns and Thames Valley with the aim of encouraging wider public access to affordable high quality music.

From the Festival’s humble beginnings it has become an established and well-loved event in the Chilterns and Thames Valley calendar throughout September and October.

Chris Worthington, Vice President of the Festival said, “The Wooburn Festival mission is to provide our local community with affordable national and international music (classical, jazz, folk, opera), visual arts, film, literature, talks and a children’s event.

“Without the financial support from local government, individuals and organisations such as the Paradigm Foundation the Festival would not have been able to continue its mission for more than 50 years.

“We are especially grateful to the Paradigm Foundation for their support given the current economic situation which has resulted in a phasing out of local government funding.

“The support from the Paradigm Foundation enables us to continue to afford big name artists such as the cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason and the Heath String Quartet, and to reach out to the wider community through advertising.”
